A week or 2 ago I installed
Shadow Warrior Classic Redux. I decided I wanted some challenge and chose the difficulty Who Wants Wang, the 3rd one. Not long in I realized my favorite weapon was the katana. I had reload
(saved as I progressed and loaded the latest when I died or wasn't satisfied the way it was going) more than I wanted but my skills with the katana kept increasing. At a point somewhat far in the level
Master Leep's Temple, the 3rd one, I encountered a wasp for the 1st time; I had a hard time learning to defeat them with the katana but managed to do it although taking some damage in the process.
On the ledge trail with access to the pool, the one in which the bunny jumped in, there was only 2. Past that point, on the same trail, there were 3-5 harassing and making the jump across the canyon fail like 1/5 of the time when hurrying, killing the minimum to progress; if I kept on going without killing the wasps some other were added to the swarm (see
one) and the jump back across the canyon failed because of them jumped to ~1/3. I decided I didn't want to deal with so many at a time depleting my ammo. As I was writing this post, I thought I could head back and trap them in the confined space from which I got through to get to that trail (see on
this image at the intersection of the 2 orange arrows ~1/4 to the left and ~1/2 vertically
(based on this image)) but that was starting to get a little too
meta for my taste. I even had 3 nuclear warheads in that map alone
(I still had one from a previous map), again too meta (I wouldn't do that if I played this game
blind). To give an idea of the difficulty of those wasps, in the 1st time I tried killing the 1st 2 wasps using shurikens in the same confined space I was referring to earlier, I had to use 69 of them while taking my time.
I'm planning to start over using the difficulty I Have No Fear, the 2nd one. I was ~3½ map in it, they're pretty fresh in my memory so it should be somewhat quick to get back to that point with the lesser difficulty.
